Meet David L. Stevens
ClearPath Law is led by its founding attorney, David L. Stevens. David earned his B.A. from Franklin Pierce College and his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, and he is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, and Florida.
Over the years, David has guided people through some of the most stressful situations a person can face: the threat of losing a home, a business being bled dry by daily loan withdrawals, a mailbox full of collection notices, a lawsuit with a deadline attached. What clients tend to remember is not just that he knew the law cold, but that he treated them like people. He returns the call. He answers the question, even the one you think is too small to ask. He tells you the truth about your options, including when a particular option is not right for you.
That approach is deliberate. David built ClearPath to be a focused practice, not a filing factory. The firm stays in one region on purpose, because knowing the local courts, the trustees, and how these cases actually play out in Newark and Trenton is worth more to you than a national footprint ever could be.

What makes ClearPath different
You are hiring a person, not a call center.
A lot of high-volume debt shops treat clients like paperwork, hand them off to staff, and push them through a template. That is not how this works. When you hire ClearPath, you work directly with the attorney handling your matter.
We only represent debtors.
We are not conflicted by also working for lenders. Our entire job is getting the best possible outcome for the person or business in debt.
We handle the whole problem.
Bankruptcy, small business reorganization, SBA loan default, tax debt, foreclosure, and the litigation that comes with any of it are all under one roof.
We tell you the truth.
If bankruptcy is the right move, we will say so and explain why. If it is not, we will say that too. You will never be pushed toward a filing just to close a file.
What working with us is like
Most people who reach a page like this feel some version of the same thing: embarrassment, fear, and the sense that they should have handled money better. Set that down for a minute. What matters now is not how you got here. It is what you do next, and you have more options than you think. The first conversation is free, it is confidential, and it commits you to nothing. You will leave it understanding where you stand. You are going to be okay.
What people say after the weight lifts.
Ready to talk?
There is no charge to find out where you stand. Call the office, tell us a little about what is going on, and we will point you toward the right path, even if that path does not include us.
